... enrolled some of the teachers in a 3 day training seminar which was held at the AOG Bible School.

null

The group will later prepare a presentation summary of the sessions to the rest of the team during the upcoming annual TLC seminar.

The latest little 18 month old addition to the Kindy Class is cute and enjoyed some assistance with his meal from Patrick.

Jonathon visited the kids and led them in a song ...

null

... and we invited Matt and Sam over while they were in town to discuss a project we wanted to get underway ...

null

... and after hearing about it, Matt and Sam kindly agreed to help out by working on the project with the kids.

These kids enjoyed their 'turn in the middle' to display their talent in presenting a new song ...

null

... but while they were passionate and harmonious in the singing department, they could do with a little more work on getting their actions synchronised.

Brian has volunteered his time teaching English ...

null

... and this girl was happy to receive some assistance.

null

The children are studying hard and we are pleased with the results achieved at the government school. The children have also enjoyed working on a couple of special projects ...

null

... including making 'Get Well' cards for Pastor Philip.

null

'Story Time' is a fun time for the kids with some remaining focused ensuring they do not miss out on any of the events, especially the plot ...

null

... while others can at times be more interested in what is going on around. There's certainly an art to keeping everyone totally interested!

And that is some of what's happening at TLC.

Farewell Teen Mania

by patrickandcarol, July 16, 2009
The first team bound for Thailand arrived at the airport ...

null

... and after Eddie 'knighted' Brandon, Philip and Sarah, as leaders of the Thailand adventure ...

null

... the team departed for the next exciting phase of their summer missions trip. A couple of hours later, the team bound for the USA arrived ...

null

... and soon proceeded to the departure gate.

With the team now out of the country, it was time to finalise the accounts with Leap ...

null

... and collect and distribute all the goodies that the team donated.

null

Thanks for coming and serving alongside us, Teen Mania! It was our pleasure to be your hosts. You are wonderful people!

Teen Mania & Centre of Peace's Big Day Out!

by patrickandcarol, July 10, 2009
The COP kids have been asking Bophal when they are going to the water park since we organised the date a few months ago. The big day finally arrived and the kids were up bright and early and seated in the convoy of Tuk Tuks ready to go!

null

null

At the Phnom Penh Water Park Teen Mania and Centre of Peace teams lined up and buddied up ...

null

null

null

... before getting down to some serious business of having fun!

What a great way for the kids to spend the day!

Teen Mania's ...

... schedule was almost complete when they hosted a 'Thank You' party for their interpreters and people on the ground.

null

There were lots of photo shoots happening ...

null

null

null

null

... and it was great to have the opportunity to spend time with the team ...

null

... and listen to 'The Band' ...

null

... and catch up with TJ who is on her third trip to Cambodia.

null

It has been our pleasure to see TJ on each of her trips over the last three years and to also have had the opportunity of meeting up with her at the Teen Mania campus in Texas earlier this year.

What an amazing young group of passionate people!

Teen Mania ...

... completed their 7 day quarantine and picked up on the schedule and excelled at delivering their sessions at the children's centres. At Centre of Peace children's home the battle was on to apply the fatal blow to the paper mache pinata to free the goodies ...

null

null

... and the girls enjoyed the front page article on the swine flu episode ...

null

... while others played their role in the days proceedings ...

null

null

null

... and told us that it was good to put a pair of shoes on after so long.

null

Out at TLC ...

null

... the team was enthusiastic ...

null

... and presented one-on-one English classes to the staff during the lunch break ...

null

null

null

... while the children who came to the centre early learnt a new song ... 'How Great Is Our God' ...

null

... and greeted our guests with flowers ...

null

... and relaxed in the library ...

null

... or played in the rain ...

null

... before the team rehearsed for the concert.

null

The bell rang to usher in the afternoon session and the concert commenced. TLC children performed first ...

null

null

null

... with Pastor Sara and Patrick encouraging the kids with the choreography.

null

null

It was a relaxing ...

null

null

null

... entertaining time for everyone. The Teen Mania Doctor's Surgery Skit had everyone in stitches ...

null

... with Corey, Traci ...

null

... and every actor ...

null

... putting on a wonderful performance. Corey aka 'the man who caught everything from everyone' finally couldn't catch this!

null

Then the team presented their other items ...

null

null

... before finishing off with an exercise routine with the kids ...

null

... while Sochea and Viv decided to opt out of the session and chat.

null

And that was just about it for the daily schedule.

Sew Empowered

by patrickandcarol, July 08, 2009
The 'Sew Empowered' team recently farewelled Thy, who has now started her own business. We have now had 2 women move into positions of employment/business and love it when we see them move out of the project into other options that have become available to them.

A new machine has been added to the project in order to produce a couple of the Calypso Costumes ...

null

null

null

... and the girls were delighted to complete the current Calypso Costumes order which has now been sent overseas.

null

The girls continue to work on the silk screen T Shirt project ...

null

... and were excited to receive an order from Teen Mania.
